The Examination of Robert Steal< no role > who
Hands Charged with Burglariously Breaking
and Entering the Dwelling House of Thomas
Oxley
< no role > in the Night of the 12th. of October
last and Stealing one Silver Watch the
property of Thomas Aldridge< no role > and also
for the same Offence on the Night of the
29th. of October following and stealing One
Silver Watch and Two Shillings in Money
the property of Thomas Oxley< no role > Taken the
9th. day of November 1786 .

Who Saith That the last Offence where with he
Stands Charged he is entirely innocent of And
Saith That he had a Watch with a Cypher on
which he sold to one Thomas Smith< no role > for Nine
Shillings at the house of Mrs. Mason the Kings
Arms in Maynard Street (but he paid him
the Money at the Cart and Horses Alehouse [..]
the corner of the said Street That on Saturday
Morning or Sunday Morning he cannot tell
which (but how long ago he cannot tell) he was in
Liquor and went up the one pair of Stairs backwards
of Mr. Oxley's house (both room doors being open)
together with the Street door and went into the
back room and poverty led him togaintake a Silver
Watch from a pair of Breeches which was
lying on a Bed in the same room which said
