14th. day of December 1786
Who being on oath severally say and first the said
James Pollard< no role >
for himself saith That about six o' Clock
on Tuesday Evening last as he was going down
Constitution Hill
in the Green Park
he was Stop't
by three Men whom he believes to be the Persons
was present and calling themselves John Turner< no role >
William Jones< no role >
and Henry Staples< no role >
who without
speaking a Word to this Informant immediately
knock'd him down when upon his screaming out
''Murder'' one of the said three men seized him by the
Throat and called to the others ''Kill him" That they
then searched his Pockets and took thereout the Silver
watch now produced and also took from him a
Basket containing a quantity of Carpenters Tools
amongst which were the following Articles more
produced vizt. two Saws one Axe and one Anger
and the said Thomas Brown< no role >
for himself saith That
he received the said Watch in Pawn for eighteen
Shillings about eight o' Clock on Tuesday Evening
last from one of the Persons now present and who
now calls himself Henry Staples< no role >
but who at that
time called himself Henry Millingthorp That he asked
him how long he had been in Possession of the said
Watch who told him he had been in Possession of it
some years and that he won it at a Raffle at the
Queens Head
at York
And this Informant further says that about
