taken before me this
30th. day of December 1773
Who being upon Oath say and first the said James Maltravers
for himself says that on or about the 1st. of November last
there
was a fire near his house which made it necessary for him
to remove several of his Goods, that there was a Dressing
Glass in the two pair of Stairs Room with three Drawers in
the middle one of which were a Ring and a pair of Ear Rings
now produced together with several other things of the same
Nature, and the said James Belbin for himself says that he
was in the house of the said James Maltravers now present
at the Time of the said fire together with James Griffiths< no role >
now present, that he saw the abovementioned Dressing
Glass in the two pair of Stairs Room and saw the
said James Griffiths open the middle Drawer in which
was a key, that the said James Griffiths put his
hand into the said Drawer tooktakesomething out and put
it in his Pocket, and the said James Maltravers further
says that he is very sure the said Ring and Ear rings were
in the said Drawer when the said fire begun and that he
afterwards found they were stolen, and that he does suspect
the said James Griffiths stole the same
