The Information of Elizabeth West< no role > Singlewoman a Lodger
in Barretts Court in the Parish of St Mary le bone in the County of
Middx taken upon Oath, before me one of his Majestys Justices of
the Peace in & for the said County City & Liberty this 22d Decr. 1768 .

Who being upon Oath saith That She saw a Man who is now present who calls
himself Jesper Webb [..] in the posession of a large Gold Watch about 3 Weeks ago
which she this Informant saw him the said Jesper Webb pull out of his Pockett
and said he cou'd get Money upon it at the Fen Shop And she this Informant upon
her Oath Saith that about afortnight ago she saw this Jesper Webb brought to a Woman
he Calls his Wife (one Sarah Williams< no role > ) Two large Bundles containing Ten or a Dozen
Womens Gowns of different Sorts some Stuff, Some Linnen, Some Birds Eyes, and
some Black, and 3 Aprons, 1 a long Lawn, one a Spotted Apron and one of a Muslin
Apron, and Six or 7 pair of Shift Sleeves, and 4 White Muslin half Neck Handkerfs
and 8 or 9 Lumps of Butter, and half a Side of Pork, All which things (together with
the aforesaid Gold Watch) She the said Informant Elizabeth West< no role > upon her said
Oath declareth and Saith She verily Suspects and believes he the said Jesper Webb< no role > did not
come honestly by That he never bought any of the said things, but that he
feloniously Stole the same; And that this Informant further upon her Oath Saith
that She saw the said Jesper Webb knock Mr Nichollson down, and Saw him feloniously
take and Carry away his Hat and put it upon his own head & carry it away, and
saw the said Jesper Webb treat and use the said Mr Nicholls Extreemly Ill and further
that She saw the said Jesper Webb< no role > with a Pistol, and that she verily believes and
suspects upon her said Oath that the said Jesper Webb< no role > is a Footpad. And that the
said Jasper Webb< no role > told this Informant that he had bought a Pistol on purpose to shoot
Mr Rowe and Mr Jones Two Constables of Maybone Parish who had been out in Pursuit
of him to take him, And that he went out one Night to this Informant knowledge on purpose
to Rob on the Highway and She Saw his Pistol And that he told her he stole a Basket
containing 8 Loaves from Berkley Square from a Boy on the highway.
