AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the King, at the Parish of
Saint John Wapping in the County of
Middlesex , the Tenth Day of April in the Twenty sixth Year of the Reign of
our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
a Man unknown then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
William Chapman< no role > George Creighton< no role > , Joseph Meeres< no role > , John Knox< no role > , Richard Moore< no role > , Richard Nurse, Samuel

good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said Man unknown came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said Man unknown [..] accidentally casually
and by misfortune fell into the River Thames And was in the Waters thereof then and there
suffocated and drowned Of which said Suffocation and Drowning he the said man unknown [..]
to his Death then and there died And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid Do say
That the said Man unknown in Manner and by the Means aforesaid came to his Death

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said William Chapman< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
