An Inquisition indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of
Saint John Hackney in the County of Middlesex the twenty seventh day
of February-in the twenty sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith
and soforth before Thomas Phillips< no role > One of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said
County on View of the Body of John Farrell< no role > then and there lying dead
upon the Oath of John Lambert< no role > William Dorset< no role > Richard Ward< no role > John Davis< no role > William Mason< no role >
James Taylor< no role > William Dawson< no role > , John Smith< no role > , John Hurst< no role > , Richard Davis< no role > Charles Ashly< no role > and
William Fieldwick< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said County duly chosen and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King when how and by what Means
the said John Farrell< no role > came to his Death do upon their oath say That
the said John Farrell< no role > not being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding but Lunatic
and distracted on the Twenty fourth Day of February in the Year aforesaidwithat
the Parish and County aforesaid with a certain Razor made of Iron and Steel of the
Value of six pence which he the said John Farrell< no role > then and there had and held in his right
Hand the Throat or Gullett of himself did then and there strike, stab and Penetrate
thereby then and there giving unto himself with the Razor aforesaid in and upon
his said Throat or Gullett one Mortal Wound of the Length of Six Inches which
penetrated through the Windpipe of him the said John Farrell< no role > , Of which said mortal
Wound he the said John Farrell< no role > then and there died And so the Jurors aforesaid upon
their Oath aforesaid Do say That the said John Farrell< no role > and being of sound Mind
Memory and Understanding but Lunatic and distracted in Manner and by the Means
aforesaid did kill himself

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Lambert< no role > the
Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and the rest of his said Fellows in their
presence have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day and year first above
written.
