AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our sovereign Lord the King, at The Parish
of Saint Paul Shadwell in the County of
Middlesex , the First Day of February in the twenty sixth Year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
William Watson< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
Thomas Kendall< no role > , Josiah Wallis< no role > , Thomas Bance, James Wright< no role > , Charles Edlin< no role > , John Gray< no role >
John Masheder< no role > , John Hardy< no role > , Christian Splidt< no role > , Benjamin Walker< no role > , Spencer Burgess< no role > , Charles

good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged in inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said William Watson< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That Rober Davis< no role > late of the Parish aforesaid in the
County aforesaid Labourer not having the Fear of God before the Eyes but being moved and
seduced by the Instigation of the Devil on the thirtieth Day of January in the year
aforesaid with Foles and Arms at the Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid in and
upon the said William Watson< no role > in the Peace of God and of our said Lord the King then
and there being feloniously wilfully and of his Malice a fortnight did make and Assault
And That the said Robert Davis< no role > a certain Gun of the Value of Five Shillings charged
and Loaded with Gun powder and divers Leaden Shot which he the said Robert Davis< no role > then
and there had and held in both his Hands at and against him the said William
Watson did then and there feloniously wilfully and of his Notice aforethought shoot off
and discharges By Means whereof he the said Robert Davis< no role > did then and there give unto the
said William Watson< no role > with the Leaden Shot aforesaid so shot off and discharged out of the said Gun
by force of the Gun powder as aforesaid divers mortal wounds in the Body of him the said William
Watson which penetrated the Heart of him the said William Watson< no role > Of which said mortal
Wounds he the said William Watson< no role > from the said Thirtieth Day of January in the Year aforesaid
untill the Thirty first Day of the said month in the same year at the Parish aforesaid in the County
aforesaid did Languish and Languishing did Live, on which said thirty first Day of January
in the Year aforesaid he the said William Watson< no role > at the Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid of
the Mortal Wounds aforesaid did die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say
that the said Robert Davis< no role > him the said William Watson< no role > in Manner and by the Means aforesaid
feloniously wilfully and of his Malice aforthought did kill and Murder against the Peace of our said Lord the King
his Crown and Dignity

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Thomas Kendall< no role >
the Foreman of the Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
