AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our sovereign Lord the King, at The Parish
of Saint Mary White Chappell in the County of
Middlesex , the Twentieth Day of April in the Twenty fifth Year of the Reign of
our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
John Weller< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
Samuel Campion< no role > , William Swan< no role > , Benjamin Rice< no role > This name instance is in set 3176. , Joseph Chesney< no role > This name instance is in set 3174. , John Tomkins< no role >
Henry Stevens< no role > , Charles Meyers< no role > , John Rogers< no role > , Samuel Monk< no role > , William Jones< no role >

good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said John Weller< no role > came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said John Weller< no role > on the Eighteenth Day of
April in the year aforesaid being an Infant of the Age of Ten Years or thereabouts and
being Endeavouring to take hold of a certain Chain called a Drag Chain which was hanging
to a Waggon then drawing by four Horses along White Chapell Road in the Parish and
County aforesaid It so happened That he the said John Weller< no role > then and there accidentally
casually and by Misfortune fell to the Ground and the near [..] Hind Wheel of the
said Waggon did then and there pass upon and over the Breast, Body and Arms of him
the said John Weller< no role > By means whereof he the said John Weller< no role > then and there received
divers Mortal Bruises in and upon The said Breast Body and Arms Of which said
Mortal Bruises he the said John Weller< no role > then and there died And so the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say That the said John Weller< no role > in Manner and by the
means aforesaid accidentally, casually and by Misfortune came to his Death And that
the said Near Hind Wheel of the said Waggon was the Cause of the Death of the said John
Weller and is of the Value of Two Shillings and Six pence and the Property and in the
Possession of Metcalf of Bromley Mills in the Parish of Westham in the County
of Essex Distiller or of his Assigns

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Samuel Campion< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
