AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our Sovereign LORD the KING, at the House of
Thomas Day< no role > the Sign of the George Hany lead in the Parish
of Saint John Hampstead in the County of
Middlesex , the Eleventh Day of November in the Thirty ninth Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign LORD GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of GOD of Great-Britain, France
and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before George Hodgson< no role > Gent
one of the CORONERS of our said LORD the KING, for the said County, on View of the Body of
James Pointer< no role > Esquire then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
the several Persons whose Names are hereunder-written and Seals affixed, good and lawful
Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly sworn and
charged to inquire, for our said LORD the KING, when, how, and by what Means, the said
James Pointer< no role > Esquire came to his
Death, do, upon their Oath say, That the said James Pointer< no role > not being of
sound Mind Memory and Understanding but lunatic and
distracted in the eleventh Day of November in the Year aforesaid
at the Parish and in the County aforesaid with a certain Pestel
leaded with Gunpowder and certain leads & Kings to and against
his own Head did short off and discharge thereby then and there
giving unto himself one Matal Wound of which he instantly
died And so the Jurors aforesaid do say that the said James
Pointer not being of sound Mind as aforesaid in Hannon
and by the Means aforesaid did kill himself

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said CORONER asthe said Edward Page< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, and the Rest of his said Fellows, have, to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals, the Day, Year, and Place first above-written.
