<p n="1187">Considerations respecting the attendance of the Prisoners at<lb></lb>
Chapel; and the methods proper to be taken in order to Admonish<lb></lb>
and instruct them.</p>
<p n="1188">It cannot for a moment admit a doubt, that in a well regulated<lb></lb>
Prison, the Prisoners should duly attend Divine Service and at other<lb></lb>
times receive admonition and Instruction from the Minister. The<lb></lb>
Question is how both these benefits may be applied to them with the<lb></lb>
<obscured></obscured>
reatest probability of Success.</p>
<p n="1189">The Seats which are now Assigned to the Men & Women Prisoners<lb></lb>
<obscured></obscured>
n the Chapel are incommodious. They are not always large enough to<lb></lb>
<obscured></obscured>
ontain all who ought to be present, nor are they placed in a<lb></lb>
<obscured></obscured>
situation convenient for encouraging the attention of those who<lb></lb>
occupy them. Those who stand up on the nearest Bench may<lb></lb>
<obscured></obscured>
ee and hear what is going on in the Chapel while the rest who<lb></lb>
remain at the further end of the Pow are in a manner excluded from<lb></lb>
the Service which they cannot see performed, and must hear very<lb></lb>
imperfectly: It would hardly be adviseable to bring them forwarder<lb></lb>
into the Chapel which is not too large for the accommodation<lb></lb>
of the Inhabitants of <rs type="placeName" id="GLBRMB20102_geo18">the Hospital</rs>
<interp inst="GLBRMB20102_geo18" type="placeName" value="the Hospital"></interp>
<interp inst="GLBRMB20102_geo18" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
and Precinct. If the present Seat<lb></lb>
cannot be rendered more commodious, perhaps the Prisoners might<lb></lb>
be seated in the Gallery.</p>
<p n="1190">But Divine Service it is imagined, might be Solemnized<lb></lb>
with Greater prospect of good effect upon the Prisoners, either in<lb></lb>
a convenient room appointed for the purpose in the intended<lb></lb>
alterations of the Prison, or in the Chapel at an Hour different<lb></lb>
from the usual hours of service. The communication between<lb></lb>
the Minister and the Prisoners would their be more immediate and<lb></lb>
direct, and they would personally feel themselves more interested<lb></lb>
in the solemnity. The service too might be adopted to their</p>
