Consequence of the power given them the Overseers
and Workhouse Committee by a former Vestry to lett
the House at the North West Corner of Somerset Street
and three Houses at the back thereof down the said
Street late on Lease to Mr. Wright they had entered into
an Agreement with Mr. Edward Paul< no role > of Aldgate High
Street Butcher to grant him a Repairing Lease of
the said Premises for twenty one Years from Midsummer
last at £52-10-0 per Annum payable Quarterly
clear of all Taxes on the following Conditions Vizt. That
the said Mr. Paul should at his own charge previous
to any Lease being granted to him put the said Premises
into sufficient Repair to the good liking of a Surveyor
or Workman to be appointed by them to superintend
the same and that in Consideration thereof and
toward the Expence of doing the same the said Edward
Paul should be allowed to retain to himself the first
half Years Rent to become due under the Lease for his
own Use and also that in Case the Brick Wall at the
West End of the said Premises next to Mr. Bootes should
be condemned as a party Wall and be obliged to be
Rebuilt during the continuance of the Lease that
then the said Mr. Paul should be allowed by the
Parish to retain to himself all such Monies as he
shall be obliged to pay for or towards the rebuilding
the same out of the Rent which shall become due
and payable to the said Parish from the time he
shall pay such Monies until he shall have
compleatly reinisursed himself he producing
to the Churchwardens Receipts for the same
and that Mr. Colebatch who had been employed by the Church-
Wardens to superintend such Repairs had certified
that the said Mr. Paul had caused the said
Works and Repairs to be done in a Workman like
