<p n="1180">of Nails and other Iron Work and other Profitable Devices and<lb></lb>
that they would deliver matter in Stock whereof the Idle should<lb></lb>
be set to work as Wool Yarn Flax Wire Leather Etc and when wrong<lb></lb>
to receive the same back allowing for the Workmanship And further<lb></lb>
Declared that such had been and they doubted not but it would<lb></lb>
increase the Charity of the good Citizens that they had given nor small<lb></lb>
Sum of Money to the Furnishing of two Houses then already Erected<lb></lb>
Vizt. Christs Hospital the House of the Father less and the Hospital in<lb></lb>

And that they did not doubt but this Third house being the most<lb></lb>
needful and necessary would be furnished And further<lb></lb>
declared who should be the <rs type="occupation" id="BBBRMG20208_occ1906">governors</rs>

& Officers of such intended<lb></lb>
House and Particularly that there should be Officers there called<lb></lb>
Taskmasters and Task-mistresses who should be honest and Export<lb></lb>
in such Sciences and Occupations as should be Exercized there and<lb></lb>
they should take the Charge of every Mans Task or Proportion of<lb></lb>
Work that should be daily appointed for them to do and should<lb></lb>
have power to Correct and Punish such as were Negligent and that<lb></lb>
the Poor Artificers to be Elected should give Surety to the <rs type="occupation" id="BBBRMG20208_occ1907">treasurer</rs>

for such Stock of Wares and Stuff as should be delivered unto them<lb></lb>
to be made & wrougtht And further declared they Trusted that the<lb></lb>
. same God who so opened the Hearts of a great Number of Good Men<lb></lb>
. to Impart Liberally of their Substance before they saw any certain<lb></lb>
. Proceeding in that Godly work would open the Hearts of Godly Men to<lb></lb>
. provide for the Continuance of it being then brought to some Effect<lb></lb>
. And that they were Perswaded that so long as the woild shod. continue<lb></lb>
. God would bless this Realm with Godly <rs type="occupation" id="BBBRMG20208_occ1908">governors</rs>

who would be<lb></lb>
. Careful to preserve the same from Rain and Decay & Promised they<lb></lb>
. would faithfully Travail for the furniture of the said House with<lb></lb>
. Implements Instruments Tools and Sufficient Stuff to Work upon<lb></lb>
. only for Gods sake and for the Relief of the Miserable Poor & Needy<lb></lb>
. and for no other Gain or Profit and that under the Pair & Forfeiture<lb></lb>
. of God his gracious favour and Mercy & under the Pain and Forfeiture of the said House with all the Appurtenances unto the Kings Hands<lb></lb>
. & beseeched his Majesty to be the Patron thereof as a Perpetual Memory<lb></lb>
. of his Godly Zeal to the Common Wealth in Abandoning Idleness &<lb></lb>
. relieving the Poor</p>
<p n="1181">And We further find that by Indenture bearing Date the 12th.<lb></lb>
day of June in the 7th Year of the Reign of the same Blessed Bunce<lb></lb>
made between his Majesty of the one Part and the Mayor Commonalty<lb></lb>
and Citizens of the <rs type="placeName" id="BBBRMG20208_geo566">city of London</rs>
