The Examination of Mary Whiffer< no role > taken in
Writing and upon Oath before no two [..] of his
Majesty's Justices of the peace in and for the said
County the 14th: day of Novemr: 1769

This Examinant Saith that on or about the 26th: day of
September last this Examinant at that time being
in the Dwelling House of one Robert Cromwell< no role > of
Moor fields in the Parish of Shoreditch in the said County
Silk Weaver She this Examinant about one o'Clock in the Morning hearing a Noise in the Street looked out of Window
in the said House, and saw a Great Number of persons
assembled before she said House armed with Pistol
Cut lasses and other offensive Weapons and in a few
minutes some of the said persons attempted to break
open the Window Shutter of the Parlour which this
Examinant believes they could not the same being fastned
within by an Iron Bar, and thereupon some of the
said person came to the Door of the said Dwelling
House, and broke open the same, and came into
the said House, and then broke Down another Door
leading into a Warehouse in the said Dwelling House
and this Examinant saith that the Several person or
Mary of them did several Times five Pistols or Guns
in the said House and that [..] Several other of the
said persons who Stood without the Door did also fire
Several Times at the Windows of the said House
And this Examinant further saith that one of the said
persons so assembled as aforesaid was then and Stitt, is well
known to this Examinant by the Name of John Carmichael< no role > This name instance is in set 3669.
and that she saw the said John Carmichael< no role > then and there
stand and hold in his Hand a Pistol or Small Gun
which said Pistol or small Gun the said Carmichael
presented and held Close to the head of a Man whom
this Examinant believes was a Watchman, and this
Examinant out saith that she heard the said John
Carmichael
