The Rt. Worshippll sr . William Withers< no role > knt . & Alderman and
president of these Hospitals acquainted this Court That on the 29th.
day of May Last he had taken the Examination and Confession
of John Peel< no role > as followeth ViztThat he is a Journey man to
Mr. Paules a Corver in old Change and was on ye 29th. day of May
taken in the old Baily about two in the morning by the Capt. of the
Guard that was upon the Patrole on King George Birth Night)
in a blew Doublett which was given him by one of Bridewell
Hospital Boys whose name he knows not but knowes him by Sight
that gave it himThat Samuel Baron formerly apprentice in the
Hospital and was whipped Stripp'd and turned out was then also in a
blew Doublett which he borrowed of one of the apprentices in the
hospitalThat Daniel Vaughan< no role > This name instance is in set 1321. formerly apprentice in this Hospll.
but has been gone for about four years was also in a Blew Doublett
Last night which he borrowed of one of the apprenticesThat
four or five persons that are not Apprentices in ye hospital were Last
night the 28th of this Instant May in blew Doubletts which they borrow
if the Apprentices and the Doubletts were left at ye acron Alehouse in an
Alley in Fleet Street That two of West's apprentices gott out at
the window and Stay'd out all night and are not come home yett as he
is informedMr president likewise acquainted the Court that
in order to the discovery of this Scandalons practice which drew a
Reflection upon the Hospital He had issued out his Warrant agt. the
Said Daniel Vaughan< no role > and Samuel Baron< no role > (menconed in the Said
Peells Examination) and also agt. oneSaunders, but that
none of them could yet be found

This Court being informed that Henry Newbold< no role > and John
Wright
< no role > two of the Apprentices to John West< no role > had broke out of his
appartments the 28th. & 29th of May Last It is Ordered that it
be Referred to ye Comittee of this House to Examine into ye matter
and to do therein as they Shall think fitt.
