This Committee met pursuant to their Adjournmt.
of Thursday last for the purpose of Contracting
for keeping in repair the Carriage way of the
Strand from Midsummer next for the Term of 7-14
or 21 Years at the Option of this Committee And
also for the Scavengers work for the whole of the
Parish for One Year From Michaelmas next
and William Meredith< no role > having proposed to keep
the Carriage way of so much of the Strand as
lies within the Parish including Labor and
materials at £110: Per Annum for 21 Years
and Alexander Gondge< no role > having proposed to do the
like for the same Term for Six Pence To Yard in the
whole Superficial which is 5320 Yards and
therefore amounts to the Annual Sum of £133
and Thos. Holland< no role > and J.W. Horder having
Given in a Proposal to do New Nine Inch Guernsey
at 9s..6d Square Yard and Nine Inch Granite
at 9s:0 Ditto Old Carriage way Paving
release per Ditto 218d and to allow for Old Carriage
way Squared Stones for Square Yard at 2s-0d
which proposal not being agreable to the
Advertisement they Holland & Horder were
desired to withdraw in order to furnish a New
Proposal, which they agreed to do - when it was
determined by this Committee to Contract for
Twenty One Years after which Mr. Meredith &
Mr. Goudge were severally heard as to their
Proposals and Holland & Horder not being
