(to wit) Elizabeth Cocker< no role > singlewoman aged 21
years and upwards Upon Oath saith that She never
was Married that she lived as an hired yearly with
Mr. Bevan No. 6 James's Buildings in Rosemary
Row [..] in the parish of St James
Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex [..]
for one year (wanting one day) at the Annual
Wages of £5:0:0 and Received the whole years
Wages for such her Service and hath never obtained any
Settlement in her own right otherwise than by such
Service with Mr Bevan in James's Buildings as
aforesaid and this Deponent further saith that
on the 5th day of December 1791 at the House of
Mrs. Knight No. 5 Houghton Street in the Parish
of St Clement Danes in the said Liberty of
Westminster and County of Middlesex she this
Deponent was delivered of a Female Bastard Child
Named Rachael aged 9 and that the said Child is become chargeable to the [..] to harsh that one John Croft< no role >
who now Works at Kentish town in the said Cov [..]
as a Labourer in the Highways is the only real
and truefather of such Child of which She was
so delivered as aforesaid he and no one else
having had Carnal knowledge of this Deponent
Body about four years ago and at several time
since at some or one which times he did beget
the said Child thereon and that he & no one else
the real true father thereof
