Mary Arter< no role > This name instance is in set 1593. aged 22 Years upon Oath saith she never
was Married and that she lived a yearly Servant
with Mr. Sherrif in Stanhope Street in the
Parish of St. Clemt. Danes for the Space of two Years
at the Yearly Wages of Three Pounds for the
first Year and after the Rate of Four Pounds for the Second Year
and that she quitted her sd. Service near 4 months
ago and has not since rented ten Pounds a year
nor pd. Parish taxes and this Examinant further
upon her Voluntary Oath saith she is pregnant
with Child or Children which is likely to be
born a bastard or bastards & to become
Chargeable to the said Parish of St Clement
Danes she being poor and unable to
maintain the same when born and that
John Houghton< no role > Apprentice to his Mother
Mrs. Houghton a Sadler at Ludlow in the County of
Salop did beget the said bastard Child or
Children on her body the sd. John Houghton< no role >
having had carnal knowledge of this
Examinant several times in the months
