to wit Elizth. Lyre< no role > aged about 24 years on her Oath says she never
was married Rented House or paid Taxes Says she lived a hired
yearly Servant with one Mr. Holloway an attorney in Breams
Buildings in the Liberty of the Rolls for one year at the yearly
Wages of Eight Guineas hath quitted her said Service upwards of
18 Months ago since which time she hath gained no or. Settlement
And further on her Oath says that on the 26th. day of Feby. 1782 she
was delivered of a Female Bastard at Mr. Gents in Denzell Street
in the Parish of St. Clement Danes in the Liberty of Westmr .
which has since been baptized by the name of Lydia< no role > and is become
Chargable to the said Parish of St. Clement Danes she being poor
& unable to maintain the same And further says that oneWm
Thos- Wilby< no role > late a Clerk to Mr. Holloway in Breams Buildings and who
now lives at one Mrs. Jordans Opposite the Goat & Compasses Tottenham
Court Road is the Father thereof he having had Carnal Knowledge
of her Body at her said Masters House some time in the Month of
May 1781 and at sevl. difft. times afterwards at one of which times
he got her with Child of the Female Bastard Child of which she
was so delivered as aforesaid And that the said Thos. Wilby< no role >
and no other Person did beget the same and that he is the real
& true father thereof.
