on his Oath saith he Since about the Middle of December as his Freind has attended the Deceasedsince Christmas on accountthe
Deceased was frequently complaining of pains in his Head
and particularly of a Pain on his side, which he described
as being like a burning and that the place might be
Covered with half a Crown, and that the Pain some times
shot about other Parts of his Body, and he also complained,
of not sleepingbut Deponent has frequently told the
Deceased that he was since he must have slept, and the
Deponent is sure that he must have often slept as
he did not hear [..] his teeth grinding which was very common
to him so to do when awake on Friday the 25th. of
March, the deceased was in good Spirits and entertained
some Company and played as Cards, but the next day
Saturday he was very low Spirited, and Deponent is
certain the Deceased Disorder was more on his Mind
then his Body, and he heard Dr. Reynolds say the
Same, and that he was since if the Deceased went to
Cheltenham for a Fortnight he would he better, the
going to Cheltenham was proposed to the Deceased, and
he agreed to go and desired the Deponent towithgo with
him, and the Deponent was to have goneOn Sunday
the
the 27th. of March the Deponent was with the Deceased
in his Room about half after Eight oClock and no other
Person with them, the Deceased said to would go down to
the Necessary as to had done three or four Nights before
but which had not been usual, and Deponent helped
the Deceased on with this great Coat, after he returned [..]
Said he Might as well put his Silk Hand Kerchief
round his Neck, as it was cold and he was to grow
across the Court to the Necessary [..] Deceased did
not returnin about a quarter of an Hour the Deponent
called his Laundress, and enquired about him, but he
could get no information, no Body had seen him; and they
Porters at the Gate said he had not gone outAdvertizer
and Hand Bills were published and dispensed des [..]
his Person & Dress, but he received he information till
Tuesday, when he heard that a Hat had been found on
Monday the 28th, of March in the Serpentine River , the
Deponent saw the Hat, and is perfectly sure from the marks [..] it was
the Deceased, and in consequence thereof immediately
directions were given to drag for him in the said River
the [..] Deponent has frequently seen the D [..]
for about a fortnight Proceeding the Accident [..] on his Knees in his
Chamber at Prayers, which he had not observed before in
his acquaintance of upwards of Thirty Years with himthat the
Deceased
