day of April 1781 at the Parish of St.
John the Evangelist within the Liberty
of Westmr . in the country of Middsex
upon an Inquisition touching the
death of William. Skyes< no role > lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty & Country

Ann Godfrey< no role > the wife of John Godfrey< no role > a
Lodger at Mrs.Mitchell of Peter Street in
the Parish of St. John the Evangelist Westmr.
Chinney between five and six o'Clock in
the Afternoon, she saw the Deced in Mrs.
Michells Yard wherein she keeps her Ashes
That he then appeared to be in Liqnor
says that Mr.Michell Locked the Deced
in one of her lower Rooms abou after on
Accot. of his being in Liquor, says that
about half past six she he are the Deced
open the Casement and go out of Room
says that Dept.went to work this Morning
a little before six o'Clock in Mr. Michell
yard to seft ashes when she saw the
Deced's foot out of the ashes and a great
deal of Ashes upon the Deced. which
had fallen down fromupon him from
a very large Heap, Says that the Deced
was got out, when he appeared to be
dead bur not cold That Mr. Barrow
that Surgeon was fetched who said that
the Deced was dead, and Deced believes
that the Deced was Suffocated by the
Ashes Accidentally falling upon him.
