Informations taken this Twenty Eighth
day of May 1784 at the Parish of St George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of Westmr .
in the County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the death of John Arne lying
dead in the said Parish Liberty & County.

William Barwick< no role > a Soldier in the first
Regiment of Guards, in Mr. Cohoon's Company
on his Oath saith, That Mr. William's Servant
came to Dept. about a fortnight ago desiring
him to Sleep in Mr. Williams's, House in New
Norfolk Street in the Parish of St. George Hanr.
Square (an Attempt having been made
to break open the House as Dept. was informed)
Says that he went to take care of the
House and Slept there, Says that John
Ayre
< no role > the Deced likewise slept there
and he & this Dept. had each of them a
Pistol, Says that the Deced about Eight
o'Clock last Night went out to see the
Company go to the Pantheon, and this
Dept. and the Maids followed and returned
about Ten o'Clock, the Deced being returned
before, Says that the Deced Eat no Supper
and in about half an hour went up Stairs
bidding Dept. a good Night Says that in
four or five Minutes Dept. heard the
Report of a Pistol, above Stairs, and Dept.
went up Stairs into his own Room one
pair of Stairs, and there saw the Deced
lying down upon the Floor on his Back.
and a great deal of Blood upon his face
unable to speak or move himself, Says
that the Blood issued out of Deced's Mouth
That he Saw a Pistol upon the Floor near
the Deced's feet and the Rod upon the Floor
out of the Pistol, Says that he believes
