Informations taken this Tenth
day of May 1784 at the Parish of St.
Clement Danes within the Liberty of
Westminster in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the
Death of Philip Brown< no role > lying dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Mary Bray< no role > Servant to Mrs. Jane Pennington< no role >
at the Crooked Billet in Wych Street in the Parish
of St. Clement Danes within the Liberty of Westmr.
on her Oath saith That Philip Brown< no role > the Deced
a Soldier has been Quartered at Mrs. Pennington
about three Months, and Lodged in the House
Says that Yesterdayabout [..] Ten and Eleven o'Clock
a Corporal came to enquire for Deced, and
being told by Dept. that she had not seen him
that Morning He desired Dept. to go up
Stairs to call him, which she did, and
on her going into Deced's Room She saw
the Deced lying on his Back on the Floor
appearing to be deadbutDept. did not touc [..]
him but came down Stairs very much
frightened, and acquainted Mr. Jones
therewith, who went up afterwards, and
saw the Deceds Fire lock lying upon
the Floor; and the Iron Rod, Says that she saw
a Wound in the Deceds Belly on the left side
made by a Musket Ball, and Dept. think
that the Deced gave himself the Round
by Discharging the Piece, which caused
his Death Says that the Deced has been
very dull and low Spirited about a
fortnight and particularly the last two
or three days.
