and having called the hour of Eleven he
heard the cry of Murder several times in
Oxford Street , upon wheek he went there
and saw a Man in the Custody of three or
four Watchmen, that the Deced immediately
followed this Deponent, Says that he took
hold of the Prisoner and that the Prisoner
knocked him down, That the Deced had
hold of the Prisoner behind and that the
Prisoner was down and Dept. laid hold of
one of his Legs, That the Prisoner got up
and said that he would not be taken to the
Watch house, Says that he Rattled and
some of the Mary bone Watchm and the
Patrole come there, Says that he came
back and was informed that one of the
Watchmen was Wounded, That he went
to the Deced who was sitting down & said, Dick
Dick is it you, to which Deced Answered
Jack Jack, take my Hanger from me, I am
a dead Man, and immediately took a
Hanger from under his Coat on the left side
and gave it to Deponent, Says that he
put the Hanger in North Row near a
Farrier's Shop, but cannot say whether it
was bloody or not, Says that the Hanger
now produced by Richard Webb< no role > is the same
that he had from the Deced, Says that he
did not see any Weapon in the Prisoner's
Hand, and does not think that the Deced
reced the Wound in his Thigh from the Prisoner
but that he received it Accidentally from
his own Hanger, Says that he went with
the Deced to St. George's Hospital but thinks
that the Deced died before the Coach got to the
Hospital.

Richard Webb< no role > a Watchman of the Parish
of St. George Hanover Square on his Oath saith
That when he was calling the hour Twelve
on Sunday Night, he was informed by one
of the Patrole men that there had been a
Riot in Oxford Street and that Davey was
almost Murdered and carried to the Hospital
That he was in North Row with a Lamp lighter
who by the Light of his Burner saw a
Hanger, took it up and gave it to Dept.
And Dept. says that it was the same which
he now produces, That it was not in a
Sheath, and that he know it to be the
Hanger of the Deced, hearing often seen the
Deced carry it when on Duty, and that
the Deced usually carried it naked under
his Coat

Thomas Linton Rogers< no role > of Oxford Street Shoe maker
on his Oath saith That on Sunday night last
about a Quarter after Eleven o'Clock the Dept.
was standing in Oxford Street opposite George Street
when he heard the cry of Watch, stop Thief,
That some Watchmen come there and laid hold
of Mr. Barnes who was running away, Says
that they were going to carry Barnes to
the Mary bone Watch house , rise thought and Barnes
refused to be taken to the Watch house
Says that there was a Scuffle between
Barnes and the Watchmen and that
they were all down together, Says that
Barnes got up & the Watchmen, when
they Struggled again, and that Charles Purcell< no role >
a Neighbour came out of the Crowd bleeding
in the Wrist from a Wound which he reced
