Informations taken this Fourth
day of October 1780 at the Parish of
St. James within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex upon an
Inquisition touching the death
of Richard Chace< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Francis Quelch< no role > Servant to Mr. Newton
a Publican at the Kings Arms in little St. James
Street in the Parish of St. James Westmr. on his
Oath saith, That he was at home last Night
in the Evening, and about half an hour
after Twelve o'Clock this Morning Dept.
came out to shut the Bar Window when
he heard somebody Groan in the Court and going forward
Dept. found the Deced Richard Chace< no role > sitting
by the side of the Iron Rails belonging to
the Thatched House Tavern backwards,
the Deced's Breeches being down, Says
that he called Mrs. Newton out, who
likewise saw the Deced, Says that he
spoke to the Deced who made no Answer
Says that there was a great deal of
Blood in the Deced's Breeches, and on
his Cloaths, and on the Ground, particularly
by the Iron Rails Says that he called
up William the Porter at the Thatched
House Tarvern, who got up, and came
[..] out to the Deced, and
assisted Dept. to carry the Deced into the
Tavern , where Mr. Walker the Surgeon
Examined a small Wound in the
Deced's right Thigh, when he said
that the Deced was a dead Man, & that
the Spike had Enter'd the Main Artery, and
Deced died there in a few Minutes,
and
