Elizabeth Rogers< no role > of Adam a Digging Yard
in Peter Street Westmr . on her Oath saith That
James Jefferys< no role > the Deced had lodged almost
Seven Weeks with the Deced, That yesterday
Morning about Nine o'Clock Dept. went up
Stairs to Deced's Room Door and finding it
fastened she called, and Deced in the Room
said hat he was not well and could not open
the Door, Says that in about an hour after
a soldier came for a Pair of Shoes which
Deced had to Mind, and after calling several
times and having no Answer the Soldier forced
open the Door with a Hatchett in the presence
of this Dept. and Mr. & Mrs. Hawkes, and they went
into the Room, but Deced went down Stairs
and did not see the Deced until he was cut
down, and Dept believes that the Deced
Hanged himself

Richard Hawkes< no role > of Peter Street< no role > Butcher on his
Oath saith, That yesterday Morning Mr. Rogers
came to Dept. saying that she had been to Deced;
Room, who said that he was not well and could
not open the Door, upon which he went to
the Door and called several times but Deced
made no Answer, That a little after a Soldier
came for a pair of Shoes who went with
Dept. to the Door, and called something and
had no Answer, and finding the Door fastened
the Soldier with a Halchet forced open the Door
and went in with Dept. Says that he saw
the Deced Hanging by a Cord which was put
around a Shelf at the Read of Deceds Bed
and about the Deced's Neck, Says that he cut
the Cord and Deced droppedfellupon the Bed, Says that
an Apothecary bled the Deced in the Arm
& that he bled about half a Tea Cup full

but the Deced was dead, the not Cold
Says that the Door was locked and that he
found the Key upon the Deced's Working Seat
on the inside of the Room from whence this
Dept. believes that the Deced Hanged himself
