Informations taken this Twelfth day
of October 1778 at the Parish of St. James
within the Liberty of westmr. in the
County of Midsex upon an Inquisition
touching the Death of Charles Chapman< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Thomas Bowen< no role > of Shug Lane Stationer on his
Oath saith that he has known Charles Chapman< no role >
the Deced almost Twenty Years, and frequently
saw him, Says that the Deced Dined with
this Dept. yesterday and Supped with him last
Night, and went away in order to go home
a little after Ten o Clock, That the Deced
was Melancholy and low Spirited, Spoke
very little and appeared to be in a very
Desponding way, Says that he wanted
to see the Deced this Morning and between
Ten and Eleven o'Clock Dept. went to the
House of Mr. Hall in Windmill Street in
the Parish of St. James (where Deced lodged)
and on enquiring for the Deced Mr. Hall
said that she had not seen or heard him
move today upon which Dept. went up stairs
to Deced Room Door, and found it Locked
and the Key in the Lock on the inside of the
Door, That after calling and having no answer
he went house and sent his Maid Servant
to Mrs. Hall, and soon after his Man Gabriel
Silcock
< no role > coming home he sent him after
the Maid, That the Man returned very soon
and informed Dept. that he found Deced
Hanging in his Lodging Room and that
