Informations taken this Thirteenth day of
September 1776 at the Parish of St. Ann within
the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the death of
Thomas Smith< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Librty and County.

Sarah Smith< no role > late the Wife of Thomas Smith< no role > the
Deced , a Lodger at Mr. Vaughan in Oxford Street
in the Parish of St. Ann Westminster on her path
saith, That they have lodged at that House
almost four Years in the Cellar, and sold Milk
that the Deced used to go out every Morning
to Milk between there & four o'Clock Says that
that Deced got upo this Morning at three o'clock
Dressed himself, and very soon underseed himself
and went into Bed again, Says that on asking
him the reason of it Deced said it was nothing
to her, that his Brains were burned, and that
he should go out no more and then looked
very wild, & distracted, That at five o'Clock
the Deced dressed himself again, and soon
undressed and went into Bed, and about seven
got up again, dressed himself and went out
returned very soon Says that the then
went out with some milk leaving the Deced
alone in the Cellar with the Door open
and Dept, took the Key of the Door, Says
mart a little after Eight o'Clock as she was
carrying her Milk Mr. Vaughan's Maid Lord
called to her and informed her that her
Husband had Hanged himself, upon which
she went down and saw the deced lying on
th Ground with a Linnen Handkerchief about
his Neck, and Dept. was informed by Mr. Vaughan
that he had cut the Handkercheif by which the
Deced was Hanging, and Dept.. believes that he
hanged
