the Deced in the Watchhouse and went back to
his Stand, Says that he observed no hurt upon
the Deced, nor did she complain of having been
ill used. Says that he had several Nights before seen
the Deced walk the Streets and believes her to be
a common Prostitute.

John Chewter< no role > one of the Constables of the Parish of
St. Margaret Westmr . on his Oath saith That he was on
Duty at the Parish watchhouse on Saturday Night last
(Sepr. 10th.) That about a Quarter before One o'Clock John
Barton
< no role > a Watchman brought the Deced, (who said that
her name was Catherine Marshall< no role > ) to the Watchhouse
charging her with having abused him, and as being
Disorderly at ½ past 12. o'Clock on Sunday Morning,
and insisted upon the Charge being taken, Saying
that he had turned her away one, & that she came
there again, and that he had often seen her at Night
in his Walk, Says that the Watchman went to his
Duty, and that the Deced after staying about a
Quarter of an house or a little more in the Watchhouse was locked
up in one of the Holes there by Mr. Joseph Cumber< no role >
the Warden, the Deced walking quietly into the
Hole, Says that about two o'Clock the Deced called
out, Desiring to be let out of the Hole, to which Dept.
aswered that he could not as the charge was taken
Says that about three o'Clock Dept. went from the Watchhouse
home, leaving Mr. Cumber and Mr. Curtis the Beadle in
the Watchhouse, Says that about a Quarter after Six
o'Clock that Morning Mr. Cumber came to Depts. Lodging
informing him that the Woman had Hanged herself in
the Watchhouse, upon which he went with Mr Cumber
to the Watchhouse where they found a great number
of People about the Door, Says that Mr. Cumber (who had

opened the Door of the Hole, when they found the
Deced lying down in an heap close to the Door on
the inside with a white Silk Ribbon with a
running Knot about her Neck very tight, paining
at the Mouth and her face very black, Says that the
Deced was dead and Cold, and Dept. believes that
the Deced Hanged herself.

Westmr . on his Oath saith That on Saturday Night last
(Sepr. 10th.) he was at the Watchhouse with Mr Chewter the
Constable and Mr. Curtis the Beadle, That a little before
One o'Clock John Barton< no role > a Watchman brought the Deced
to the Watchhouse Charging her with abusing him on
his Duty and being Disorderly, which was taken
Says that the Deced was soon after Locked up in a Hole
at one End of the Watchhouse by Dept. the Deced ging in
Quietly, and did not appear to be much in Liquor
Says that Mr Chewter went away about three o'Clock
and Mr. Curtis soon after, as Dept. thinks, That he
this Dept. staid in the Watchhouse until a Quarter
after four o'Clock where Dept. went home, but not then
look into the Hole where Deced was, Says that
about Six o'Clock the Morning one Hawkins a
Watchman called Deced up at his Lodgings and
told him that a Woman had Hanged herself at the
Watchhouse, upon which he went there and with
the Key opened the Door of the Hole where Deced
was put, and on the inside close to the Door saw
the Deced lying on the Floor, with a Ribbon about
her Neck, Says that she was dead and Cold, That he looked
the Door again and went to call Mr. Chewter the Constable
who went with Dept. to the Watchhouse and on Dept. opening
