Informations taken this Eighth day of
February 1774 at the Parish of St. James within
the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Middlesex
upon an Inquisition touching the death of Edmond
Baker
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Mary Thornton< no role > Chambermaid to Mr David Lyall< no role > at the
Sign of the Black Bear in Piceadilly in the Parish of St.
James Westmr . on her Oath saith, That Edmund Baker< no role > the
Deced came to Lodge at her Master's House on Friday Night
last (Febry 4.) and has lodged there ever since, Says that
the Deced got up Yesterday Morning, and not being well
he went into Bed again between Nine and ten o'Clock
and Deced warmed his Red Says that between Eleven and Twelve o'Clock she carried
Deced some white wine Whey and son [..] Foact When Deced bid her give it
him, that he would wait upon himself as she had a great
deal to do, Says that she left Deced in Bed, and went
down Stairs, Says that between four and five o'Clock
Dept. by her Mistrees's Order went up into Deced's Room
to see it he wanted any thing, when she saw Deced
Hanging by a Cord near the Window in his Room, Says
that he was upright but Dept. cannot say whether his feet
touched the Floor, but that they were very near it, Says
that she was much frightened, immediately went down
Stairs and called his Master, who went up to the
Deced with several Others, Says that the Deced was
Cold and appeared to have been dead sometime and
Dept. belives that he Hauged himself
