Club there until about three o'Clock on Sunday
Morning, when the Deced, Mr. Bee Mr. Lewis and
this Dept. went out, and at the Sign of the Portabelle
in Rider's Court drank six penny worth of Gin and
Water, Says that they went from thence the Deced
then appearing to be a little in Liquor but not drunk,
That in Newport Street they met with James Beard< no role >
Mr. Webb and Mr. Sharp, at the Door of the Feathers
Ale house , Says that they all agreed to go in there
and drank a Pot of Beer, That Mr. Lewis and Mr.
Beard Quarrelled, and that Mr. Lewis went out into the
Street took off his Cloaths and came in again, when
they had more words and both agreed to go out to
Fight & Beard the [..] Says that Lewis called the Deced to be his
Second and that Beard called Sharpe to Second him
which the Deced and Sharpe agreed to and went out
first agreeing that if any foul play was shown by
Lewis or Beard in fighting, that they (the Seconds)
were to Fight afterwards, Says that Lewis & Beard
fought sometime Says that Beard struck Lewis
when he was down upon the Ground, upon which the
Deced struck, Mr Sharpe and Sharpe said I will see you out
when this is over, Says that Beard afterwards gave
out, and then Sharpe and the Deced agreed to fight
put themselves in a posture of Defence and went
towards each other, Says that he did not see or hear
any blow given but the Deced fell down withgreat
great force with the leftside of his Head upon the
stone Pavement in Riders Court , upon which John
Bee
< no role > said that John King< no role > is a dead Man, and Dept.
then saw a great Quantity of Blood come out of
the Deced's left Ear, the Deced being insensible for
about three Minutes, and unable to move himself
Says that the Deced came to himself and was led by
Mr Bee & this Dept. to the Dowager's Arms again where
he was bled by a Surgeon, and Deced afterwards
appeared

appeared to be something better, and said to Dept. that
he was hurt by the fall, but Dept. saw no Wound or
Bruise upon the Deced's Head, Says, that they led the
Deced to his Lodgings between five and six o'Clock
in the Morning, That he complained of his Head and
left Shoulder, that he grew worse that Evening and was
carried in a Coach about twelve o'Clock that Night being
the 16 Instant to St. George's Hospital .

Richard Bee< no role > a Shoemaker Lodging at Mr. Morrison in
Edward Court. Edward Street Covendich Square on his Oath
saith, That on Saturday Night last he was in the Company
of the Deced at the Dowager's Arms in Cronbone Alley
Says that on Sunday Morning before it was light,
Mr. Curtis, Lewis the Deced and this Dept. went from
thence to the Po to Bells in Ridge's Court where they drank six penny Worth
of Gin and Water, then went to the Sign of the Feather
in Newport Street , where they met James Beard< no role >
Edward Sharpe< no role > , Mr. Webb and Davies, Says that
they drank some Beer, and Dept. went out of
the [..] House, Says that in about ten minutes
on hearing a Noise in the Street Dept. went there
and saw Mr. Lewis and Mr. Beard fighting, the Deced
Seconding Lewis and Edward Sharpe< no role > being Second to
Beard, Says that soon after the Deced and Edward
Sharpe
< no role > , put themselves in a Posture of Defence, advanced
towards & struck at each other, and Sharpe struck the Deced
with both his Hands, and knocked the Deced down in
Rider's Court, where the Deced lay speechless and
unable to move for some time, a great Quantity of
Blood issuing from his left Ear, upon which Dept. said
that Deced was a dead Man, Says that he assisted
to lead the Deced, after he was come to himself, to the
Dowagers
