Informations taken this Fourteenth day of
Decr. 1772 at the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the death of Eleanor
Mathews
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty & County.

William Jones< no role > Shopman to Mr. Jeffreys the Jeweller
in Cock spur Street in the Parish of St. Martin in
the Fields on his Oath saith That on Friday last
about two o'Clock in the Afternoon he this Dept. was
in his Master's Shop and writing at the Desk That when
he [..] lifted up his Head he saw the Deced Eleanor
Matthews
< no role > lying down in Cockspur Street opposite to
Mr. Jefferys Houcer (where she used to sweep the Cross way)
and the off Wheel of a Cart or Coach (Dept. is not sure)
passing over the Deced's Head and going along towards
Charing Cross Says that he saw at the same time a
Coach driving along towards Pall Mall , and believes
that the Deced in endeavouring to keep clear of the
Coach going towards Pall Mall , went against the
other Carriage and that the Wheel accidentally
went over the Deced's Head, Says that the Deced
lay motionless & Speechless near the Middle of the Street
and died there very soon afterdiedand believes
that her death was Accidental.
