Informations taken this Eighth day of December
1772 at the Parish of St. Margaret within the Liberty
of Westminster in the County of Middlesex upon on
Inquisition touching the Death of Margaret Pawley< no role > otherwise Byron< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and County.

Richard Churchill< no role > Servant to Charles Pawley< no role > Victualler
in King Street Westmr. on his Oath saith That he has lived there
about Eight months, That Mr. Pawley has been some time ill
and that the Deced was with him last Night in his Bed chamber
about Eleven o'Clock when Dept. went to Bed, Says that he
sleeps in the Garret and got up this Morning about Seven
o'Clock and came down Stairs, Says that about half hour
after Seven o'Clock Mr. Bates sent Dept. upinto his [..]
Stairs for a Hair Broom to sweep out the Taproom and
on going to his Garret Door he found it Bolted on the inside
Says that he called and having no Answer, he pulled a
string hanging on the outside of the Door, by which he removed
the Bolt back, and when he went into the Room he
saw the Deced Hanging by a Garter which was fastened
to a Wooden Rail for Cloak Pins and around her Neck
the Deced's Knees being upon or near the Floor, upon [..]
Dept. came down Stairs and acquainted Mr. Pawley's Nurse
there with, who went up with Dept. to the Deced and
immediately after called Mr. Bates who went up with
Dept. and ordered Dept. to fetch a Knife, with which
Mr. Bates out the Garter by which the Deced was Hanging
Says that Mr. Churchill the apothecary was fetchedwho Bled the Deced
but Dept. observed no Signs of Life in the Deced and believes
that she hanged herself
