Informations taken this Twenty eighth day
of November 1771 at the Parish of St. Anne
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of John
Young
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

Sarah Young< no role > Widow of John Young< no role > the Deced late of
Compton Street in the Parish of St. Anne Westmr . Breeches maker
on her Oath saith, That she lay in the Shop on Tuesday Night
last, and Yesterday Morning (Novr. 27.) about Eight
o'Clock, she spoke to the Deced, (who lay in a Room behind
the Shop,) and said that she was going out upon Business, and
desired Deced to lye until she came back, who said that
he would, Says that she went out, locked the Shop Door, &
put the Key in her Pocket, That she returned home before
Ten o'Clock the same Morning & unlocked the Shop Door, That
a Gentlemen at that time came in & enquired for the Deced
and Deponent after calling & opening the Door of the
Back Room, which was dark, and having no Answer,
desired the Gentleman to stay there until she went
to see for him, Says that she could not find him in
the Neighbourhood, and returned home when she found
the same Gent. and Mr. William Shenton< no role > a Breeches maker
who did Business for her in the shop Says that she looked into the
Back room and finding the Passage Door locked, and some
of Deced's Cloaths upon the Bed, she fetched a Candle from
before Stairs and then save the Deced hanging by a
Cotton Handkerchief, which was around his Neck and
fastened to something, which Dept. did not observe, being
then much frightened, Says that a Coachman was fetched
who cut the Deced down as Dept. was informed Says that the Deced for two
months past has been at times Disordered in his Senses
