Richard Hopkins< no role > Coachman a Lodger at Mrs. Cook's the Sign
of the two Blue Posts in Dean Street , on his Oath saith
That he was standing with Edward Dukins< no role > another Coachman
in Dean Street Yesterday Morning a little before Ten o'Clock
when a Man who stood at Mr. Yong the Deced's Door called
out desiring the Coachman to come there, & saying that an
Accident had happened in the House, upon which Dukins
went to the House and Dept. followed, Says that in a Room
behind the Shop he saw the Deced hanging by a Handkerchief
which was around his Neck and fastened to a Piece of
wood supporting a shelf by the side of the Bed, the
Deced being in his Shirt, Says, that said Dukins with
a Knife out the Handkerchief and Deced drapped down
upon the Bed, Says that he appeared to be dead but was not
quite Cold. Says that the Deced appeared to be Melancholyfor
for a fortnight past.
