Informations taken this Ninth Day of
October 1771 at the Parish of St. Martin in the
Fields within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching
the Death of William Robertson< no role > lying dead in
the said Parish Liberty and County.

William Stranford< no role > at Messrs. Sebastian< no role > & James Crespel< no role >
Goldsmith in Witcomb Street in the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields on his Oath saith that he has lived there
upon liking almost eight months, says that William
Robertson
< no role > the Deced, (who was Apprentice to Messrs.Sebastian
Crespels) lived there all that time and slept with Dept
in a Room over the workshop, Says that the Deced
supped last night with the other apprentice & this Dept.
about Nine o' Clock and Deced afterwards laid his Head
down upon a Table and seemed Melanchely and did not
speak, as he had done two on three Nights before, Says that the
Deced got up and went into the Yard, that in about
ten Minutes this Dept. was going to Bed and seeing
the Deced walking backwards & forwards in the Yard Dept
asked him to go to Bed, upon which the Deced desired
Dept. to go to Bed, and said that he had occasion to go
to the Vault, Says that he went up to the Room where
they usually Slept but did not immediately go into
Bed, Says that he called to Deced several times but
had not their any Answer but that in about five
Minutes after the Deced, who was in the Shop, asked
their Dept. if he was assleep, who answered that he
waited for him (the Deced) Says that he then went
into Bed and in three or four Minutes he heard
the Rope, by which they usually held to come up the
Step [..] out of the Shop unto the Chamber, rattle, and
Dept. then thought that Deced was coming up, and Dept
fell asleep, Says that he did not awake until morning
when he was called by the Ringing of a Ball about
