Informations of Witnesses taken this 8th,
day of August 1771 , in the Parish of Saint
Martin in the fields in the said Liberty at the
Dwelling House of Mr. Armstrong the Sign
of the Porto Bellow in St. Martin's Lane. Before [..]
Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman His Majesty's
Coroner for the said City and Liberty, touching
the Death of John Rogers< no role > in the said Parish
and Liberty then and there lying Dead, as follow

John Lawland< no role > who lodges at the Ship in James Street Covent
Garden Labourer , on his Oath saith that on Tuesday the 6th, day
of August Instant about a quarter after 6 o'Clock in the Evening
the Deponent was at the foot of a Ladder set up and at the New Workhouse
in Castle Street St. Martins in the fields now Building the Deced
went up the Ladder with a Hod of Bricks and when he was clear of
the Ladder the Deponent went up to the top of the Seaffold, Deponent
saith a Board was placed aslant from the Seaffold to the Building
and the Deced going along the Board and being much intoxicated with
Liquor he accidentally casually and by Misfortune fell from the said
Building
