An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Seventh day of August in the Eleventh Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Thomas Davis< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of William

good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Thomas Davis< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That Macconnolly (commonly called the Butcher) late of the Parish
of Hendon in the County aforesaid Labourer, and Morgan Briant< no role > late of the same Labouror and divers other Persons to the said Jurors unknown not having
the fear of god before their Eyes but moved and reduced by the Insligation of the Devil on the Eighteenth day of July in the Year aforesaid with force and Arms
at the Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid in and upon the said Thomas Davis< no role > in the Peace of God and of our said Sovereign Lord the King then and there
being Feloniously Wilfully and of their Notice forethought rid make an Assault and that the saidMacconnolly Commonly called the Butcher with of
certain Hay fork made of Iron and Wood of the Value of Six pence which he the saidMacconnoly commonly called the Butcher then and there had and held in his
right hand him the said Thomas Davis< no role > upon the head of him the said Thomas Davis< no role > did then and there feloniously Wilfully and of his Malice fore thought strike and beat
and that the saidMacconnolly commonly called the Butcher with the Hay fork aforesaid by the striking and beating aforesaid did then and there give unto
him the said Thomas Davis< no role > upon the head aforesaid one Mortal Wound Bruise and Fracture of which said Mortal wound Bruise and Fracture he the said Thomas Davis< no role >
at the said Parish of Stendon and also in a certain Hospital situate in the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square in the Liberty and County aforesaid Commonly called
Saint George's Hospital from the said Eighteenth day of July in the Year aforesaid untill the Fourth day of August in the same Year did Languish and Languishing did
five on which said Fourth day of August in the same Year in the Hospital aforesaid in the Parish Liberty and County aforesaid he the said Thomas Davis< no role > of the Mortal Wound Bruise and
Fracture aforesaid did Dye And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Morgan Briant< no role > and the said divers other Persons to the said
Jurors unknown at the time of the committing the Felony and Murder aforesaid feloniously Wilfully and of their Malice for although were present abollings
aiding assisting comforting and Mainstaining the saidMacconnolly commonly called the Butcher to kill Murder the said Thomas Davis< no role > in
manner aforesaid And In the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the saidMacconnolly Commonly called the Butcher and Morgan,
Briant and the said divers other Persons to the said Jurors unknown him the said Thomas Davis< no role > in manner and by the Means aforesaid Feloniously Wilfully
and of their Malice forethought did Kill and Murder against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity and that the said Macconnolly
commonly called the Butcher the said Morgan Briant< no role > and the said divers other Persons to the said Jurors unknown nor either of them at the time of the doing
and committing the Felony and Murder aforesaid or at any time since had any Goods or Chattels Lands or Tenements within the said County or elsewhere
to the Knowledge on Notice of the said Jurors. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the Foreman of the Jurors aforesaid on behalf of himself
and the rest of the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and Place abovementioned
