Informations taken this 20th. day of September
1768 at the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within
the Liberty of Westmr. in the County of Middlesex on an
Inquisition touching the Death of Elizabeth Gilbert< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty and County.

John Debenham< no role > Journeyman to Mr. Foot Apothecary in
little George Street Oxford Road in the Parish of St. Marylebone
on his Oath saith, That yesterday about five o' Clock in the
Afternoon Elizabeth Gilbert< no role > the Deced came into Mr. Foot's Shop
and asked for a Penny worth of Arsenic to destroy Rats which
she was much Troubled with, Says that he served her with
a pennyworth of Yellow Arsenic, and then Dept. took it
away with her, Says that George Gilbert< no role > Husband to the
Deced came in about half an hour to Mr. Foot's Shop
to enquire what the Deced had bought there, saying that
she had taken it, upon which he was advised to give her
some Sweet Oil, Says that between Eight and nine o' Clock
last Night Dept went to Deced, who was then Sensible,
and some Women there, & Deced's Husband told Dept. that she had taken all the Arsenic, as she
informed them, Says that the Deced had Vomited
very much, and that he afterwards gave her a Vomit
that she was very bad, and that he had no hopes of her
Recovery, Says that She died about Eleven o' Clock
last Night as Dept. was informed, and believes that
the Arsenic abovementioned occasioned her Death.

George Gilbert< no role > a Lodger at Mrs. Mary Sims< no role > in little
George Street in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square
on his Oath saith, That yesterday between five and six
o' Clock in the Afternoon Deced told this Dept. that
she had taken a Dose, upon which Dept. went to Mr.
Foot an Apothecary who told him that she had bought
Arsenic there and Advised Dept. to give her Sweet Oil
