Informations taken this Twenty third day
of June 1768 at the Parish of St. Margaret within
the City & Liberty of Westmr . in the County of
Middlesex on an Inquisition touching the Death
of Martha Slade< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
City Liberty and County.

Mary Chadwick< no role > Spinster a Lodger at Mr. Paget in
great Wild Street near Clare Market on her Oath saith
That on the Eighth day of May last about Seven o'Clock
in the Evening this Deponent being on foot with her
Sister (the Deced) and Hannah Slade< no role > Grand daughter
to the Deced, and crossing the Road from the Asylum
towards the Bun house by the side of the Kings Arms
in the Parish of St. Mary Lambeth in the County of Surry
the Dept. being foremost and seeing a Hearse, coming
along the Road at the same time, Says that as soon as
she had crossed she heard some person crying out
dreadfully, upon which she turned about and saw the
Deced lying upon the Ground, under the Belly of [..] of the
four Horses drawing a Post Chaise or Chariot, Says that
a Man rode upon one of the fore Horses and that he
staid sometime after the accident happened until some
Person said that he might go on, and that the woman
was not killed, Says that the Deced was taken use by
some People who carried her into the Yard belonging
to the Kings Arms, when the Deced said that her Leg
was broke, and she was not able to stand, Says that the
Deced was Carried that night to the Westmr. Hospital
where she complained of her left Arm. being hurt.
