Informations taken the First day of May
1766 at the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
on an Inquisition touching the Death of Matthew
Green
< no role > a lying Dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

John Girdleston< no role > of Langley Street in the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields Carpenter on his Oath saith, That between six
and seven o'Clock this Morning Dept. was alarmed by his Wife
who said that a Labourer had informed her that Matthew
Greenaker
< no role > the Deced had hanged himself in his Room upon which
Dept. took a Ladder and put it up against the House of
Thomas Harris< no role > in said Street, where Deced lodged, Says
that he went up the Ladder put up the Jash of Deced Room
on the First Floor and went in, and was followed immediately by
Mr. Harris, Says that he then Discovered the Deced Hanging
by the Side of the Bad, with a small Lord about his Neck
which was fixed to an Iron hook drove into one of the
Joiffs, Says that he put his Hand upon the Deceds Should
and found him quite Stiff and told, and believes that the
Deced had been Dead some time, Says that the Deceds
Room door was single locked (being a Spring Lock,) and
the Key in the Lock on the inside of the Room. and Says
that the Door did not appear to be at all forced. Says that
he has known the Deced about fifteen Years, and that
he was at times very low Spirited and Melancholy.
Says that the Deced has had losses, which greatly
troubled him.

James Catling< no role > Servant to Mr. Luckyn in Leicester Fields
on his Oath saith, That he has known the Deced five on Six
Years and that the Deced used to call upon this Depont. very
often, that he used to be low Spirited, and particularly of
late, Says that the Deced called upon Deced on Tuesday
