Elizabeth Gorst< no role > of Leicester Street in the Parish of St. James
Spinster on her Oath saith. That between Eight and Nine o'Clock
yesterday Morning Dept. called at Deced's Mother's Room When
Deced came into the Room and asked Dept. to Breakfast with
her but Dept. did not stay, Says that She was in Bed last night
when she heardsomebodythe Deced's Son at her Door, Says that
she opened her Door and Deced's Son told her that he was sent by
his Grandmother to see if Deced was there, that she had not been
seen since ten o'Clock that Morning, Says that she sent Mrs.
Williams with the Boy and that she soon followed, and found
the Deced's room Door locked, Says that Mrs. Williams went
home, and that soon after Mr. Williams came there and
brought a Hatchet, with which he forced open tha Deceds
room Door, in Depts. presence, Says that she then saw the
Deced hanging in the Room, that she did not go into the
Room, but went to acquaint Deced's Mother & sister there with
That they were greatly concerned, and told Dept. that the
Key usually hanged on a Nail in Deced'd Room near the Door Says that
Mr. Williams soon after found the Key there, and with it
locked the Door, after which the Key was left with Deced's Mother

Matthew Hawes< no role > of Naylors Yard Wheelwright on his Oath
saith, That this Morning between Seven and Eight o'Clock
a Woman came to Dept. and told him that the Deced's Sister
desired to speak With him, upon which he went to her Lodging
and she informed him that the Deced had hanged herself, and
desired Dept. to cut her down, upon which he called John Watson< no role >
who went with Dept. into Deced's room and found her hanging by
a Closet there, by a Cord fixed over a Ra [..] l in the front of the
Closet and round the Deced's Neck, Says that he cut the Cord
and laid the Deced upon the Floor, Says the the Deced was then
Dead and Cold.
