Informations taken this tenth day of June 1763 .
at the Parish of St. James within the Liberty of Westmr.
in the County of Middlesex , on an Inquisition taken
on View of the Body of Tobias Ewbank< no role > lying Dead
in the said Parish and Liberty.

Samuel Smith< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Thomas Whitmore< no role > in Oxford
Road in the Parish of St. Mary le bone . on his Oath saith, That
Yesterday Morning [..] between seven & eight o' Clock, Depont.
being at Work at Mr. Gilbert a Smith in Oxford Road , was
called out by a Woman, whose name is Mary Ashmore< no role > and
desiredinformedhim to come to the Deced's Cellar, saying she
believed that the Cobler (meaning the Deced) was Dead & up right says
that he and his Shopman John Nicoll< no role > immediately went
to the Cellar where deced lodger in Oxford Road and found the Deced there Hanging by a Cord
fastened to the Supporter of a Shelf in a Closet in the said Cellar
says that John Nicoll< no role > lifted up the Deced and Deponent
with his Knife cut the Cord by which he hung, but says
that Deced was then Dead, and that the Deced was then laid
upon the Bad in the said Cellar

Mary Ashmore< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Gilbert in Oxford Road
the wife of John Ashmore< no role > , on her Oath Saith, that Yesterday
Morning about Eight o'Clock Deponent went to a Chandler's
shop to My some Soap, and whole she was there a woman
whose name is Elizabeth Burnett< no role > , came in and desired Depont.
to go to the Cellar where Deced lodged, for that she believed
that he was Dead, says she went first into the Cellar and
was followed by Elizabeth Burnett< no role > , and Mr. Harrop who keeps
the Chandler's Shop, and then asked the Deced Wife
where he was, says the deced's wife shewed the Place
where the deced [..] stood up as Deponent apprehended
but not not know that Deced was Dead, says that the Deced's
Wife then evening her hands and cryed very much, says
that afterwards finding that the Deced eas Deced,the Deced's
Wife desired Deponent to bring Deced to the Bed, Says
that the Deced's Wife told Deponent thatDecedshe missed
