We being sometime during the last Session
of Parliament acquainted by Samuel Watson< no role > Esqr . our Tenant
for the Manor of Bewick Garth in Holderness in the County
of York that a bill was preparing without his privity or Con-
currence for Inclosing Aldborough Common to which the
said Mr. Watson as Tenant to this Hospital has a Right of
Commonage with the Proprietors of other Estates bordering on
the said Common, and which bill if passed into a Law he
Apprehended would be a Detriment to the Hospital Estate
In Consequence of such Information we Ordered our Clerk to
write to Mr. Nelson Attorney at Beverly in Yorkshire the
Person concerned in Solliciting the said bill Signifying
our Surprice that a Step of this kind should be taken with-
out our knowledge and being previously Consulted in the
Affair and that we were Determined to Oppose the same
unless it could be made to appear that instead of being
Detrimental it would be for the Benefit of this Hospital
Upon which a Letter was received from the said Mr. Nelson
declaring his utter Ignorance of the Governors of this
Hospital having any Interest in the Premisses untill
after the Petition was sent up & the Bill drawn & Assuring
us that no Attempt should be made to pass the Bill during that
Session & that if he should hereafter be imployed about
the matter no Steps should be taken without a previous
Application to your Committee

We have Ordered Green Staves to be sent
to the following Gentlemen as proper Persons to be
Governors of this Hospital, Vizt.
