into the hands of the Treasurer or Clerke of the Hospital for the time being the
Severall sumes of money herein after menconed at the times respectively herein after
limitted for payment thereof that is to say the sume of One hundred pounds within one
moneth then next comeing and the further sume of One hundred pounds at lady day
then next following for a lease agreed to be made of the prmisses in convenient time
to him the said Xpher Johns or to his Exers Admr or assigned by Indenture for
a Terme of Sixty years to Comence Immediatly from & after lady day next at &
under the sent of Twenty pounds P Annm payable quarterly by equall persons with
the further reservacon to this Hospital of £6 13s.4d. upon every alienacon of the
prmisses as also with fitting Covents. & Condicons to Oblige the said Xphes Johns
his Trers Admr or assignes not only to pay the said last menconed sume of One
hundred pounds at Lady day next as aforesaid But also to lay out within the
Space of Seven years or in some reasonable time the sume of One Thousand
pounds in good and Substantiall new brick buildings as good as Second rate
buildings in London abateing only one foote in the heighth of each Storey In
which Indenture of Lease so to be made of the prmisses as aforesaid is to be
moreover conteined all other Covenants & Condicons (Mutatis Mutandis) as
are conteined in the said former Indenture of Lease of the prmisses.

This Court Order'd that a Lease be forthwith made to the said Xphers Johns< no role >
his Executer or Admstrate of the said bargained prmisses according to the said
agreement and that in convenient time the Trustees appointed by his
Maties. Letters Patents for the letting and disposeing of the lands & Tenemts.
belonging to this Hospital be applyed to for the Sealing & Executeing the same.

Also whereas it appears by the report of the said Comittee that at a meeting
thereof in the Hospital hall the 6th day of May 1686 Edward Smith< no role > desireing to Treat
with the said Comittee concerning a new Lease to be made to him the said Edwd. Smith
of a messuage or Tenemt wth. the apptenances comonly called or knowne by the name or
Signe of the Rose Situate standing and being in the Borough of Southwarke in the
pish of St Savior Southwark aforesaid holden by the said Edward Smith< no role > as
Testy que trust of one Wm Smith< no role > assignee of a certaine Lease heretofore made
and granted by Indenture bearing date the Nine & twentieth day of November Ano. Dim
1666 by the then Governor. of the possessions revenues and goods of this Hospital
to one Wm Bromsall< no role > for a Terme of Twenty one years not yett Expired and
that being told that the Comittee was informed that he claymed to be a Governor of
this House by vertue or Colour of a late appointmt. of a Pson of his name to that Office
and that if himselfe were the person thereby really intended he might not be admitted
to take any Lease of this Hospital He utterly disclaymed the Office of a Governours
of this House & all intentions to act as such the said Edward Smith< no role > was thereupon
admitted touching the same as followeth that is to say that he the said Edward Smith< no role >
his Execr Admr or assignes should pay into the hands of the Treasurer or Clerke of
this Hospital for the time being the Severall Sumes of money hereinafter menconed
at the times respectively herein after limitted for payment thereof that is to say the
Sume of One hundred & fifty pounds within one moneth then next comeing
and the further Sume of One hundred pounds on the Sixth day of May wth. shall be in
the year of our Lord 1687 for a lease agreed to be made of the prmisses into men [..]
time to him the said Edward Smith< no role > or to his Exer Admr or assignee by Indenture
for a Terme of Twenty one years to Comence at the Expirason of the said former
Terme, at and under the next of five pounds & Anmd payable quarterly, at the former
usuall feasts or days of paymt. by equall persons And also under the refer [..]
