General Court Mercur 16 o. Februar 1725

The Minutes of the last Generall Court were Read & Confirmed
and then

Mr. President Acquainted the Court with the Death of Mr. Thomas
Wright
< no role > their late Clerk & Steward of their Mannour Courts.

Subscriptions being recommended by the President to the Court
towards defraying the Great Charge and expence of the Hospital by
reason of the great number of Patients constantly Harboured therein
and above Two hundred out Patients Severall of the Governours now
present Subscribed liberally.

Minutes of the Two last Grand Committees were read & approved
Except that relating to the Residence of the future Clerk & Steward
of Courts and a Debate arising thereupon The Question was put
That the future Clerk & Steward of Courts be Obliged to Reside in or near
the Hospital which was carryed in the Negative Yeas 63. Nos' 69

Ordered that the future Clerk & Steward of Courts do give constant
attendance at this Hospital 2. days Weekly & oftner if the Grand Comittee
or Trear think fit And that all the Court Rolls Books papers & other
Writings whatsoever belonging to this Hospital be constantly kept at
the Hospital.

And then the Court Proceeded to the choice of some fit pe [..]
to succeed the said Mr. Thomas Wright< no role > as Clerk & Steward of their
Mannor Courts and the Petitions of Thomas Matthew< no role > William
Snell
< no role > William Martin< no role > and John St. Eloy being presented to this
Court Praying to be admitted to the said Places in the Room of
the said Mr. Wright They were severally called in & Acquainted
with the Conditions aforesaid And they severally consenting
thereto The said Petitions were severally read And the said
William Snell< no role > Attorny at Law was chosen to be Clerk of this
Hospital and Steward of their Mannor Courts during the
pleasure of this Court And to have the usual Salaries of
Thirty pounds P And as Clerk and Fourteen pounds P Ann
as Steward of the Mannor Courts during his continuance in the
said places together with the usual Fees and perquisites
belonging to the same places. And the said William Snell< no role > was
at this Court admitted accordingly.
