Veneris - 19 o: Janry. 1721 :

A Generall Court was Held.

The Minutes of the last Court Read & (Approved.
The Petition to the [..] of comon agt the New Bridge was Read, and with some Amendmts: approved,
and Ordered to be Ingrossed, and signed by the Clerke by
Order of this Court. And 't is Referred to Mr Trear, Sr:
Charles Cox< no role > and such other Gentlemen here present as shall
think fitt to Attend, to Get he Same presented to the House
next Monday. And Councill are to be Retained & Imployed
to Inforce this Petition. Dr. Jurin and Mr Machin attended
this Court, And also Mr Browne the City Bricklayer who were
all of Opinion, That a new Bridgewould occasion a Rise of
the Water there, which may Indanger the Over flowing of the
Low Grounds between that, and London Bridge .

Generall Court: Jovis: 1 o: Marvis:
1721:

Mr Trear in his Place acquainted the Court, That Sr. Thomas Abney< no role > our late
President departed this Life the 6th: of February last, And that the
Grand Committee had appointed a Generall Court to be held this day for
Chooseing another President, and other Business; Which being Somoned
accordingly. The Rt. Honorable the Lord Mayor Sr. William Stewart< no role > , Sent
for our Clerke on Monday last, to know by whose Order the Court was
appointed: He informed his Lordship, That it was by Order of the Grand
Committee, who called a Court in like manner upon the Death of Sr. Robert
Clayton
< no role > our former President, when Sr: Thomas Abney< no role > was Chosen
to Succeed him. His Lordship was pleased to Urge that the Lord
Mayor being named first in the Charters of the Foundacons of this
and the other Great Hospitalls in and about London, He was advised
That upon the Death of the President of any of those Hospitalls
A Respect was to be had to the Chaire, And that the Mayor for the
time being should be consulted as to the time for Holding a Court
to Choose a new President; To the end, That he may be present
at it, if he please; And this happening to be Sessions week, He
could not attend a Court on Thursday; That Evening, and the next
Morning his Lordship was Attended by Mr Treasurer, Mr Raper
and Mr. Lockwood. And Mr Trear shewed his Lordship and
some of the Aldermen an Extract from the Reportorys of our
Generall Courts, begining 1 o. March 1649: whereby it
appeares That
