Brief for the Appellants
The Pauper Charles Collier< no role >
was born in the parish of Whitehaven
in the Coy of Cumberland
where his Father (who was a Private in the 23d. Regt. of Fost) was then quartered but whose place
of legal Settlement as pauper has head him say was in the parish of Hackney
, which was therefore
paupers original Settlement his Parts being legally married
About 13 years ago Pauper's Father applied to his Brother Char. Collies< no role >
who then & still
does reside in the parish of Croyden
to take pauper as an Apprentice
, which he consented to be, &
the pauper accordingly came to him on Fryal, but after staying about three Months ran away
some afterwards how, he was bought back by his Father who requested his Uncle to take
him again & urged the Necessity of a Bindingwhich he said the Pauper also wished & wod. not
they without The Partics agreeing the Master drew up the follow of Memdum on a
4th Receipt Stamp to which the pauper made his Mark & a Counterpart executed by the
Master was deled to a friend of the Lads
