Westminster January Quarter Session

To the Worshipful his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the City
and Liberty of Westminster of their General Quarter Session of the Peace
Assembled

The humble Petition of the Several Persons Whose Names are
hereto Subscribed Journeyman Weavers Working within the said City
and Liberty of Westminster in that Branch of the Silk Manufacturer
and Silk Mixed with Other Materials Called Livery and
Coach Lace Weaving on behalf of themselves and Other journey
men Weavers in the said Branch Working within the Jurisdic
tion of the said City and Liberty

Sheweth


That in and by an Act of Parliament made and Passed in the thirteenth
Year of the Reign of his Present Majesty Intitled "An Act to impower the Magistrates
therein Mentiond to settle and Regulate the Wages of Persons Employed in the
Silk Manufacturer within their respective Jurisdictions" it is Enacted (among Other
things) that the Wages and Prices for Work of the Journeyman Weavers within
the City and Liberty of Westminster shall be Settled Regulated and Declared by the
Justices [..] of the Peace for the said City and Liberty at theinGeneral
Quarter Session of the Peace and the said Justices of the Peace are thereby
Authorized and empowered from time to time upon Application being made
to them for that purpose to settle regulate order and declare the Wages and Prices
of Work of the Journeyman Weavers working within their Jurisdiction as Afore-
said by A Certain Other Act of Parliament Made in the thirty Second Year to his
Present Majestys Reign the Provisions of the said Act and Powers of the Magistrates
are Extended to the Manufacturer of Silk mix'd or Wrought up with any Other Materials

And Whereas Great Discontents has Prevailed in the Above trade from
the Practice of Some Masters for Different Works and not being under Any Obligation
to Pay regular Uniform Prices and Wages to Remedy which Inconvenience

Working within the said City and Liberty of Westminster in the said Brand
Called Livery and Coach Lace Weaving According to the Said List or

And your Petitioner Will Ever pray Etc
