The Examination of James Pegler< no role > of Chatham
Gardens in the Parish of Saint Leonard
Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex Book Seller
and Ann< no role > the Wife of William Clarke< no role > of the same
Place Watchhand Piercer Taken on Oath before us
two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and
for the said County this 28th day of September
1795.

The said James Pegler< no role > saith That he met Thomas
Bunkell
< no role > (now under Examination) on Saturday the
Eighth day of August last at the sign of the Blue Coat Boy
Islington and there paid him three shillings and Eleven
Pence for insuring Number Eleven to be drawn out of
a Private Lottery which was then drawing at a House
No 5 Mount now in the Parish of Saint James Clarkenwell
and this Examinant was to receive
five Guineas if the said Number Eleven should be
drawn prize on the said Eighth day of August.

The said Ann Clarke< no role > saith That she was present at
the Blue Coat Boy Islington aforesaid and saw the said
James Pegler pay the said Thomas Bunkell< no role > three
shillings and eleven Pence for the said Insurance
and this Examinant further saith That she went
on Monday the Tenth day of August last to the
said House No:5 in Mount Row in the Parish of Saint
James Clerkenwell aforesaid in the County aforesaid
when and where the said Private Lottery was drawing
That while this Examinant was there she saw the
said Thomas Bunkell< no role > take Numbers for Insurance
and receive the Money from different Persons who
were present. And that as the Numbers were
drawn they were given to the said Thomas Bunkell< no role >
who called them out, and that he the said Thomas
