this 6th. day of June 1793.
Who on his Oath saith That he is upwards of Sixty
Years of Age, that he gets his living by working
as a porter
and carrying Goods
, And further saith
that his legal place of settlement is in the Parish
of Christ Church
aforesaid by renting a House in
Spital Street
at the Rent of Ten Gunieas a Year for
two Years and upwards and paying the Poor Rates
and other Taxes for the same, about eight or
nine Years ago service which time this Examinant
has done no Act to gain him a Subsequent
Settlement
The said John Short< no role >
refused to be sworn or to Sign the above Examination
but acknowledged the same to be true

That near three o Clock this morning he heard the
cry of stop Thief, he pursued and overlook the

in King Street
Spitalfields
, and on searching
him this Examinant found a Chissel a knife and
two Bags, and further saith that the said John Short< no role >
refused to tell where he lived.
